Don Bell started their work experience as a Field Service Engineer at Brown-Boveri Turbomachinery in 1981, where they were responsible for the supervision of turbine repair and assembly. Don later joined Pratt & Whitney Canada in 1981 as a Chief Engineer and Fellow, where they developed various manufacturing processes for turbine repairs involving coating processes and welding techniques. Don also worked as an Engineer Intern at Howmet in 1983, where they developed repairs and welding techniques for aircraft engines.
Don Bell has a diverse educational history. Don attended LeTourneau University from 1977 to 1981, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology. During their time at LeTourneau University, they also pursued studies in Welding Engineering Technology, earning another Bachelor of Science degree in the field. In 1979 to 1980, they briefly attended The University of New Mexico, studying Engineering Technology. Prior to that, Don completed their high school education at Hobbs High School, graduating with a High School Diploma in General Studies in 1977.
Additionally, Don Bell obtained a certification as a Ham Radio Operator, achieving Amatuer Extra Class status. Don earned this certification from the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) in January 1989.
