John Dowdle (COL USA RET) has a diverse work experience spanning over several companies. John began their career in 1981 as a Military Officer in the US Army, serving in various positions for a total of 29.5 years. During this time, they also served as an Active Duty Military Officer until 1992. After leaving the army, John worked as a Defense Contractor, providing support and expertise at the US Army Infantry School. In 1995, they transitioned to the role of Marketing Coordinator at WTCI-PBS, where they created and coordinated marketing initiatives for regional public television. In 2010, John joined General Dynamics Information Technology as a Strategic Planner and Analyst/Operations Manager. John then moved on to work with Military Personnel Services Corporation as a Program Manager-Strategic Planner in 2013. From 2014 to 2017, John worked for Apprio Inc. as a Senior Program Manager-Strategic Plans and Analysis, before joining MESMO, INC. in 2017 as a Strategic Analyst and Program Manager. Currently, they are serving as a Course Director-Instructor-Facilitator at PQC (Prairie Quest) since 2018. Throughout their career, John has focused on providing strategic level support, input, and analysis for various DoD initiatives, including managing long-range foresight capabilities and strategic study programs.
John Dowdle (COL USA RET) has an extensive education history. John obtained a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree from Presbyterian College in 1981.
John furthered their education by completing various military courses and obtaining advanced degrees. In 1994, they received a Master of Public Administration (MPA) degree from Murray State University. In 2000, they earned a Master of Science in Foundations of Education from Troy University. Additionally, in 2005, they completed the Army War College, earning a Master's degree in Strategic Studies with a focus on military and strategic leadership.
John Dowdle also completed several specialized military courses. Notably, they completed the Army Special Forces Qualification Course (SFQC) in 1983-1984, earning an Army Special Forces Diploma in the career field of Special, Irregular, and Counterterrorist Operations. John also completed the Special Forces Close Quarter Combat Course (CQCC) in 1986, obtaining training in close quarter combat techniques. Further, they completed the Infantry Officers Advance Course in 1987, gaining expertise in infantry company level command and battalion staff. In 1988, they completed the Personnel Management Course at the US Army Soldier Support Institute.
In addition to military courses, John Dowdle pursued education in various other fields. John completed the Force Integration Course and the Facilitator Course in 2002 and 2001 respectively. In 2004, they completed the Fiscal Law Course at the NG Professional Education Center. Moreover, they received training in Operations Research Systems Analysis through the Operational Research Systems Analyst FA49 program in 2000.
John Dowdle also holds several certifications outside of their formal education. These certifications include Blackboard Basic 101 Instructor DL TRNG Course from the US Army Training Support Center, obtained in September 2018, the Common Faculty Development Instructor Course from the US Army Logistics University in September 2018, and the PADI Master Diver Certification from the Professional Association of Diving Instructors in April 2004. John also holds certifications in hang gliding instruction from the US Hang Gliding Association and in Sil Lum Gung Fu at the Sifu (Teacher) level from the International Wu Shu Federation. Further, they obtained a 3-star UK Sea Kayak certification from the British Canoe Union in 2007.
