Sarah Charnley has a diverse work experience in the finance and accounting field. Sarah started their career in 2013 as an Accounts Assistant at CNJ Accounting, where they performed basic bookkeeping functions and assisted with the transfer to Xero and Workflow Max.
In 2013, Sarah also worked as an Accounts Assistant at Vegware, where they completed end-to-end accounts for the US subsidiary and participated in the preparation and analysis of Management Accounts for the UK operation. Sarah later took on the role of Part-time Accounts Assistant at Vegware, where they handled tasks such as processing invoices, credit control, supplier statement reconciliations, and compiling Intrastat and EC Sales reports.
From 2010 to the present, Sarah has been an Adhoc Financial and IT Advisor at Assured Management Group Ltd. Their responsibilities include advising on financial and IT-related issues, as well as managing the implementation of SageOne. Prior to 2017, they managed the company's sales and purchase ledger and cashbook.
Since 2018, Sarah has been working at PowerPhotonic, starting as the Management Accountant and IT System Manager. In this role, they were responsible for management accounting, standard costing, variance reporting, and analysis. Sarah also managed the effective utilization of the ERP system and provided IT systems support.
Sarah's most recent role at PowerPhotonic is the Head of Finance, where they have overall responsibility for all aspects of financial and management accounting. Sarah serves as the deputy to the Finance Director and Finance Business Partner to Heads of Departments. Additionally, they manage the finance team to ensure prompt and accurate month-end closing and maintains effective business systems and internal control for both the UK and US corporations.

Sarah attended Balwearie High School from 2007 to 2011, where they obtained their high school diploma. In 2011, they enrolled at Adam Smith College and completed a Higher National Certificate in Accounting, which they pursued until 2012. Sarah then pursued a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting at Napier University from 2012 to 2015.
After completing their undergraduate studies, Sarah continued their education at CIMA (Chartered Institute of Management Accountants). Sarah obtained a Diploma in Management Accounting in November 2016 and later advanced to the Advanced Diploma in Management Accounting, which they achieved in November 2019.
In addition to their formal education, Sarah has also obtained various certifications. Sarah became a Certified User of Xero in July 2013 and received additional certifications such as the ISO 9001:2015 Internal Auditor and ISO 9001:2015 Awareness from The Scottish Quality Management Centre in January 2022. Sarah also attended workshops on Export Control, both Foundation and Licenses, conducted by the Department of International Trade in September 2019. Additionally, they completed The Essential Guide to UK VAT and International Trade training program offered by UK Training in November 2016.
