Elbert Walters III serves as the Executive Director at Powering Chicago since February 2020, facilitating collaboration between the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 134 and the Electrical Contractors’ Association (ECA) to enhance construction, careers, and communities in the Chicago area. Prior to this role, Walters was a Business Representative for IBEW Local 134 from October 2016 to February 2020 and held various positions including Foreman and Journeyman Wireman at MZI Group, Inc. and Divane Brothers Electric. Walters began an electrical career as an Apprentice with IBEW Local 134 from 1999 to 2004. Additionally, Walters served in the Illinois Army National Guard from 1990 to 1998. Educational achievements include a degree completed at DePaul University from 2017 to 2020 and a Journeyman Wireman Certificate from the IBEW/NECA Technical Institute obtained in 2004.
