Beth Vredenburg has extensive work experience in the field of librarianship. Beth recently served as the Head of Branch Services at the Poughkeepsie Public Library District starting in June 2021. Prior to that, Beth worked as a Reference Librarian at the Maurice M Pine Free Public Library from January 2020 to May 2022. From July 2020 to May 2021, they held the position of Head of Youth Services at the Mahopac Public Library.
Beth also had roles at various other libraries. Beth worked as a Reference Instruction Librarian at the New Jersey Institute of Technology from January 2020 to June 2020. From February 2019 to December 2019, they served as the Director of the Leonia Public Library. Prior to that, they were the Interim Children's Department Head at the Hoboken Public Library from October 2018 to February 2019, followed by a role as a Children's Librarian at the same library from February 2017 to February 2019.
Earlier in their career, Beth held positions at the East Brunswick Public Library as a Youth Services Librarian from April 2014 to February 2017, and at the Mahomet Public Library as a Youth Services Librarian from April 2012 to June 2013. Beth also worked at the Mahomet Public Library in collaboration with the Community Foundation of E. Illinois as a Project Coordinator/Instructor from July 2012 to May 2013. In these roles, Beth developed and implemented various programs for children and teenagers, collaborated with schools, and coordinated reading initiatives.
Beth Vredenburg holds a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Elementary Education from the University of Oklahoma. Beth then pursued further education at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, where they obtained a Master of Education (MEd) in Language and Literacy/Multicultural Children's Literature. Later, they completed a Master of Library & Information Science (MLIS) with a focus on Youth Librarianship from the same institution.
