Sophie von Loeben is a dedicated scientist with extensive experience in climate change adaptation, particularly in agricultural systems. Currently, Sophie is involved in research and project coordination at the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research, focusing on a doctoral dissertation titled "Loosing value, adding value – climate change impacts on coffee value chains and possible adaptation strategies in Eastern Africa." As a co-founder of HyCoffee, Sophie promotes the use of wild coffee species to enhance climate resilience in the coffee sector. Previously, Sophie served as a Disaster Risk Reduction and Climate Change Adaptation Advisor at the FAO, where responsibilities included project implementation, capacity development, and supporting international adaptation processes. Sophie's educational background includes a PhD in Agricultural Economics from the University of Kassel and a Master's in Environment and Development from The London School of Economics.
