Juan Portela has worked in the engineering field since 2013. Juan began their career at New England Controls as an Engineer, where they created utility features for manufacturing control programs and completed financial reporting and analysis. In 2014, they moved to the US Army Natick Soldier Research, Development, and Engineering Center as a Mechanical Engineer, where they assisted in simulations and data analysis to better understand Traumatic Brain Injury. In 2015, they joined Ximedica as a Mechanical Engineer, where they created and executed testing protocols on medical devices in laboratory and clinical settings. In 2017, Juan moved to Bridgemedica as a Manufacturing Engineer, where they managed multiple medical device manufacturing lines and worked to optimize manufacturing procedures to improve processes and manufacturing costs. In 2016, Juan joined Portela Soni Medical LLC as the Director of Engineering, heading efforts to design, implement, and test a patent pending urinary catheter. In 2019, Juan began working at Ximedica, now a part of Veranex, as the Mechanical Engineering Manager and Senior Mechanical Engineer.
Juan Portela attended Carnegie Mellon University from 2011 to 2015, where they obtained two Bachelor's Degrees in Mechanical Engineering and Biomedical/Medical Engineering.
