Derek Jorgensen has a diverse work experience, beginning with an internship at the San Diego District Attorney's Office in 2004. From 2008 to 2018, they worked at College Works Painting, where they held the roles of Vice President and General Manager. In 2018, they joined Port53 Technologies as Vice President of Sales and Director of Sales and Growth Strategy. At College Works Painting, they helped grow the business from $2 million to $4 million in revenue and was personally responsible for $700,000 in production revenue. Derek also ran training seminars, managed sales progress, and coached leadership and retention of employees.

Derek Jorgensen obtained a Bachelor's degree in Economics from UC San Diego between 2003 and 2007, as well as a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Economics from the same university.
