Vice President Strategy & Policy at Port of San Diego

Job Nelson has a diverse work experience in government and public affairs. Job started their career in 2005 as the Director of Public Affairs at Public Policy Strategies, where they directed campaign management, government affairs, and media relations. Job then worked in the City of San Diego Mayor's Office from 2007 to 2010 as the Director of Intergovernmental Relations, where they assembled lobbying teams for federal, state, and regional matters. From 2010 to 2014, Job served as the Chief of Staff for Council District 6 in the City of San Diego, overseeing operations, policy, and community relations. Since 2014, they have been with the Port of San Diego, taking on roles of increasing responsibility. Job served as the Director of Government and Civic Relations, where they led a team and executed the Port's legislative agenda. Job then became the Assistant Vice President of External Relations, responsible for overseeing various departments and serving as a member of the Executive Leadership Group. Currently, they hold the position of Vice President of Strategy & Policy, providing policy insight and strategic advice to the CEO and the board. Job also serves on the board of Future Ports and San Diego Downtown Partnership. Throughout their career, Job Nelson has demonstrated leadership, relationship-building, and strategic planning skills.

From 2004 to 2007, Job Nelson attended Claremont Graduate University, where they earned a Master's degree in Public Policy.
