Robert Kiblinger

Application Engineer at Porex

Robert Kiblinger has a diverse work experience in the engineering field. Robert started their career as a Mechatronics Lab Intern at Southern Polytechnic State University in 2010, where they gained experience in planning and designing PLC layouts and programming robotic arms.

In 2011, Kiblinger worked as an Engineering Consulting Intern at Applied Technical Services, Inc., where they drafted inspection reports and calculated tolerances for pressure vessels and piping systems. Robert also conducted research on steel tank specifications to analyze failure trends in the paper industry.

After that, Kiblinger worked as a Materials Engineering Intern at Georgia Tech Research Institute in 2011, where they designed and built structures for waveguide testing and supported various research projects using Matlab and Solidworks.

In 2012, Kiblinger joined Ethicon, Inc. as a Reliability Engineering 1st Term Co-Op, where they applied LEAN, 6Σ, and OEE principles to projects and carried out failure analysis. Robert also identified and resolved issues with a tracking system.

In 2013, Kiblinger continued their co-op experience at Ethicon, Inc. as a Reliability Engineering 2nd Term Co-Op, where they led a team in performing vibration testing, contacting outside company representatives, and organizing steps for 25 companies to meet supplier approval standards.

Later in 2013, Kiblinger advanced to become a Reliability Engineering 3rd Term Co-Op at Ethicon, Inc., where they served as the lead engineer on a project to upgrade old hardware. Robert worked interdependently with various teams to finish the project without causing production downtime.

In 2014, Kiblinger worked as a Materials Application Engineering Intern at GE Aviation, where they evaluated microstructures of new alloys, conducted root cause analysis of retired engine parts, and assisted in developing crack identification metrics for airline customers.

From 2015 to 2017, Kiblinger worked as an Undergraduate Student Researcher at Georgia Institute of Technology, contributing to research projects within their field of study.

In 2016, Kiblinger joined PolyOne as an R&D Engineer, where they invented over 50 polymer solutions for various industries and managed projects from prototype to scale-up. Robert also traveled to manufacturing sites to troubleshoot processes, test equipment, and teach teams.

Most recently, Kiblinger joined Porex in 2018 as a Product Development Engineer, where they apply their skills in developing new products and technologies.

Overall, Kiblinger has a strong background in engineering, with experience in areas such as research, project management, product development, and troubleshooting.

Robert Kiblinger pursued their undergraduate education at the Georgia Institute of Technology from 2011 to 2016. Robert graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Materials Science and Engineering (MSE), specializing in Polymers, Fibers, Metals, Ceramics, and Composites. Alongside their main area of study, Robert also earned a Certificate in Business.
