Derek Thomas has been in the professional workforce since 2008. Derek began their career as an Assistant Manager at Big 5 Sporting Goods, where their responsibilities included creating work schedules, posting weekly sales, managing returns, leading a team of 15+ sales associates, and completing performance reviews, sales, and customer service training as well as store supervision. In 2011, they moved on to Black Diamond Paving, where they served as a Sales Team Member and Operations Coordinator. Two years later, they were promoted to Project Consultant and Team Lead. In 2017, Derek began working at Polygon Market as a Brand Manager and Digital Strategist, where they were responsible for teaching clients where their audience is and which platforms to focus on, as well as how to build community and incorporate storytelling into their marketing efforts. In 2021, Derek took on the role of Go-to-Market Strategist at SOLVVâ„¢.

Derek Thomas attended Los Gatos High School from 2001 to 2005. From 2005 to 2007, they attended College of San Mateo and studied General Studies. Derek then went on to Concordia University Irvine and earned a Bachelor of Business Administration - BBA in Business Administration and Management, General from 2007 to 2010.
