Alastair Steel's work experience begins in 1999 as the Director of Protocol Investigations, a company specializing in insurance fraud investigations, fire investigations, and surveillance. Within six years, the company grew to become one of the largest investigation companies in Australia, leveraging modern technologies and providing professional investigation reports and evidence for court disputes and settlements.
In 2005, Alastair co-founded Polonious Systems, a company focused on building the leading investigation management system globally. The Polonious Management System is a secure and highly configurable solution that maximizes the effectiveness of case management for investigation units and companies.
Furthermore, in 2006, Alastair became a Partner at LexisNexis, a global provider of legal, regulatory, and business information. During their time at LexisNexis, they helped law firms, corporations, and the government reduce risk, increase productivity, and improve decision-making outcomes.
Also in 2006, Alastair took on the role of Managing Director at BizCubed, a company that provides analytics at an operational scale. Alastair worked with clients to help them make better decisions by delivering Pentaho training, business intelligence consulting, integration, deployment, and ongoing support.
Additionally, Alastair served as the President of the Australian Institute of Professional Investigators in 2008. The organization aimed to develop awareness, increase education and service delivery standards for professional investigators, and promote fraud prevention and cooperation with educational institutions.
Alastair's latest recorded role was with LexisNexis, where they served as a Partner until June 2020. Throughout their career, they have demonstrated expertise in investigation management, analytics, and legal and business information.
Alastair Steel attended the University of Sydney from 1989 to 1991, where they obtained a Diploma in Criminology.
