James Kane

VP, Technology & Product Development at Polestar Technologies

Dr. Kane is responsible for overseeing the development of Polestar’s new optical sensing technologies and products, and he was the primary developer of Polestar’s DSP series of optical sensing chemistries and optical monitoring systems. He is also active in Polestar’s contract research programs, where he has directed programs toward the development of systems for stand-off detection of concealed explosives and narcotics, carbon dioxide sensing in Navy diver equipment, and transcutaneous monitoring of arterial carbon dioxide levels in critically injured soldiers as well as hypoxia in the tissues of patients with diabetes and/or peripheral vascular disease.

Dr. Kane has more than 30 years of experience in research and development, having previously worked as a research scientist with Geo-Centers, Inc., and as a principal investigator at Cordis Corporation. He received his Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry from Rutgers University. Outside of work, James is an avid sports fan who also enjoys reading, cooking, and gardening.
