Edison Durán Lucena began their professional career in 2003 as a Teaching Assistant at Universidad de Carabobo. Edison then moved on to become the Director General at Fundación Movimiento Por la Calidad del Agua in 2010. In 2009, they graduated from the University of Michigan as a Student Instructor. In 2011, they took on the role of Regional Coordinator - Carabobo Chapter at Transparencia Venezuela. In 2013, they became the CEO and Founder of Singular Augmented Reality, a start-up backed by Wayra. In 2019, they became an Angel Investor and Advisor at SIMA Technologies SpA. Finally, Edison has been the CEO and Founder of PleIQ, an award-winning ed-tech startup, since 2016.

Edison Durán Lucena completed a Diploma in City Management from Universidad de Carabobo in 2014. In 2010-2011, they attended IESA for a Leadership Program in Socio-Political and Management Leadership. From 2007-2008, they obtained a Master's Degree in Theoretical Physics from Universidad Central de Venezuela. Edison completed a Licentiateship in Physics from Universidad de Carabobo in 2006, after beginning their studies in 2001.
