Derren Lechuga has a diverse range of work experience in various roles and industries. In 2016, they began their career as a Human Resources Assistant intern at The Arc of San Diego, where they assisted in the recruitment and onboarding process. Derren then moved on to Palomar College as a Program Ambassador for grant-funded student programs, where they managed staff, organized events, and researched college admissions.
In 2017, Derren joined TargetCW as an HR Benefits Assistant, where they formed corporate partnerships and assisted in managing benefits for approximately 1000 employees across 50 client companies. Derren then transitioned to BASIC as a COBRA Account Executive Assistant, assisting with the open enrollment period for over 1000 client companies.
From 2018 to 2021, Derren worked as a COBRA Associate Account Manager at BASIC, where they authored SOPs, developed client and member import templates, and managed federal COBRA administration for around 1200 client companies.
Currently, Derren is employed at PlanSource as a Technical Support Manager. Their responsibilities include managing the working relationship between PlanSource and 10 client companies, assisting with day-to-day technical issues, and overseeing larger benefits-related projects. Derren also implements and maintains APIs and EDI feeds from the PlanSource platform to other third-party benefits platforms.
Derren Lechuga pursued their education beginning in 2011 at Palomar College, where they obtained a Certificate in California State University General Education Breadth in 2013. Derren then continued their studies at the University of San Diego from 2014 to 2016, where they received a Bachelor's degree in Finance, General. In 2021, Derren also obtained a certification in Data Analytics Basics for Everyone from edX.
