Marcela Estrada Sánchez has had a diverse work experience in various communication and media roles. Marcela began their career as a Redactora at Publicaciones Semana in 2004 and later worked as a Redactora freelance at Televisa and LEGIS. In 2006, they served as an Editora de contenidos virtuales at Federación Nacional de Cafeteros de Colombia. Marcela joined Televisa again in 2007, this time as a Redactora before being promoted to Editora General and later Directora Editorial at Revista Infashion. Marcela coordinated and edited both print and digital content, managed internal and external communications, and led multidisciplinary teams. In 2010, Marcela worked as a Coordinadora Editorial at MNR Ediciones, where they coordinated teams, designed editorial and advertising materials, and developed content strategies. Marcela then took on the role of Senior Communications Officer for Latin America at Planned Parenthood Federation of America in 2019. Prior to that, they worked as Jefe de Comunicaciones at Senado de la República de Colombia, where they managed public relations, press activities, and digital content strategies. In the same year, Marcela also served as Coordinadora Unidad Digital at AlcaldÃa de Cali, where they created and executed communication and digital content strategies, led multidisciplinary teams, and prioritized strategic planning. Throughout their career, Marcela has demonstrated strong leadership, strategic planning, and digital content management skills.
Marcela Estrada Sánchez has a diverse education history. From 2000 to 2006, they attended Universidad de Manizales, where they obtained a degree in Communications and Journalism. In 2020 and 2021, they pursued further studies at Pontificia Universidad Javeriana Cali and completed a specialization in Culture of Peace and International Humanitarian Law. Currently, from 2021 to 2023, they are attending Pontificia Universidad Javeriana Cali again, working towards a Master's degree in Human Rights and Culture of Peace. Additionally, in 2022, Marcela participated in several courses at University for Peace (UPEACE) - UN Mandated. Marcela completed a course on Conflicts, Impunity, and International Law, a course on Migration and Climate Change, and a course on Human Rights, Freedom of Expression, and Emerging Technologies.
