Alex Bok has a diverse range of work experience. They started their career as a Community Health Agent with the Peace Corps, where they learned local customs and language to assist the local population. They conducted community mapping, needs assessments, and implemented projects focused on gender equality. Following this, Alex worked as a Training and Development Coordinator at Duhugurane, where they developed training materials and monitoring techniques for Rwandan women.
Alex then served as a Program Coordinator at Kurema Kureba Kwiga, collaborating with other organizations to create murals addressing HIV stigma. They secured partnerships and funding from the US and Dutch Embassies. After that, Alex worked as an Administrative Assistant at Providence Health & Services, where they gained knowledge of integrated healthcare systems and assisted living facilities.
Later, Alex joined the International Rescue Committee as an Intensive Case Manager, providing recommendations and strategies for refugees to achieve self-sufficiency. Their evidence-based approach resulted in a high success rate. They also worked as a Development Intern for Marketing and Corporate Relationships at Our Children Oregon, developing market research and data systems to inform decision-making.
Alex then joined Ekotrope as the Chief of Staff, overseeing operations, and subsequently transitioned to PKI Solutions as a Project Manager. Currently, they hold the role of Director of Operations at PKI Solutions.
Most recently, Alex worked at Portland Piano International as a Program Manager, overseeing the implementation and pivot to virtual and mail offerings. They created a new virtual product, The Soundboard Subscription, to engage donors and subscribers. The subscription included virtual piano concerts, educational programs, and mailed newsletters.
Alex Bok completed a Master's degree in Business Administration and Management, General at the Portland State University - School of Business from 2019 to 2022. Prior to that, from 2008 to 2012, they obtained a Bachelor's Degree in History and Anthropology from the University of Oregon. In addition to their formal education, Alex has obtained several certifications including ORAM certification from the Organization for Refuge, Asylum & Migration in July 2018, Finical Coaching certification from Valley of the Sun United Way in September 2017, Cultural Competency certification from IRC in May 2017, Mental Health First Aid certification from IRC in May 2017, and ge change acceleration process (cap) training certification from Providence Health & Services in June 2015.
