Art Wetzel

Principal Computer Scientist at Pittsburgh Supercomputing Center

Art Wetzel is a Principal Computer Scientist at Pittsburgh Supercomputing Center, Carnegie Mellon University, since 1995, where contributions include architecting the PSC Volume Browser for analyzing large volumetric datasets, funded by NIH projects. Wetzel also serves as an Adjunct Faculty member at the University of Pittsburgh, teaching various technical courses in the Information Science department since 1988. Previous roles include Consulting for InterScope Technologies, Inc., leading the design of a high-speed microscopy imaging system, and serving as a Research Systems Programmer at Carnegie Mellon University. Early career experience includes VP of R&D at Pixel Computer/Pixel Systems, a Member of Technical Staff at Bell Telephone Laboratories, and several faculty positions at the University of Pittsburgh and Chatham College. Wetzel holds a PhD in Information Science from the University of Pittsburgh and a BA in Chemistry from Thiel College.
