Michael Van Gelder, MPH has over 10 years of work experience in the healthcare and public health fields. In 2021, they began working as an Account Manager and Healthcare Recruiter for Pioneer Healthcare Services. From 2017 to 2021, they worked for Maxim Healthcare Group, where they held the roles of Recruiter Lead Manager, Recruitment Operations Manager, Senior Healthcare Recruiter, and Healthcare Recruiter. From 2016 to 2017, they held internships at the Healthy Schools Network, Greene County Health Department, and Northwest Bergen Regional Health Commission, where they conducted research, created hazardous communication programs, and performed inspections of public and private facilities. From 2013 to 2016, they were a Health Inspector Intern at the Orange County Department of Health. Additionally, from 2011 to 2013, they were a Health & Safety Risk Management Intern/ Assistant Field Researcher at Orange-Ulster BOCES, where they collected water supply samples, maintained sewage treatment equipment, and managed data. Lastly, from 2008 to 2011, they were the Manager at Van Gelder Music Center, where they assisted customers with sales and service, managed sales data and lesson schedules, and repaired instruments.

Michael Van Gelder, MPH, has a comprehensive education history. Michael began their education in 2006 when they graduated from Monroe Woodbury High School with a High School Diploma. Michael then attended Keene State College from 2010 to 2011, but did not receive a degree. In 2012, they started at University at Albany, SUNY, where they earned a Bachelor's of Science in Public Health in 2014. Michael continued their education at the University at Albany School of Public Health, where they received a Master of Public Health (M.P.H.) in 2016.
