Markus Parkkinen has extensive work experience in the medical field. Markus started their career as a Resident in surgery at Paijat-Hame central hospital in 2005 and worked there until 2008. Following that, they joined Helsinki University Hospital as a Resident in Orthopaedics and Traumatology from 2008 to 2010. Markus then became a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at the same hospital from 2010 to 2020. Currently, Markus is Chief Physician and Head of Pihlajalinna Pikku Huopalahti Hospital, a position they have held since November 2022.

Markus Parkkinen earned a Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree in Medicine from the University of Turku in 2003. Markus then completed a PhD degree at the University of Helsinki from 2009 to 2018. The field of study for their PhD is not specified.
