William F. Wechsler serves as the Director of the Rafik Hariri Center and Middle East Programs at the Atlantic Council, overseeing the Council’s initiatives and operations in the region since 2018. In addition, William holds the position of Treasurer for the American Historical Association, where responsibilities include managing the annual budget and strategic investment frameworks. As President of the Center on Illicit Networks and Transnational Organized Crime, strategic advice is provided to combat illicit networks. William’s advisory roles extend to Thermal Energy Partners and Pickwick Capital Partners, and past positions include Senior Fellow at the Center for American Progress and a significant tenure at the US Department of Defense focusing on special operations and counterterrorism. Educational credentials include a Master of Public Administration from Columbia University and a Bachelor’s degree in Government and Economics from Cornell University.
