Kate Pickett Davis

Founder & CEO at Pickett's Press

Kate Pickett Davis, Founder and CEO of Pickett’s Press, LLC, is a native New Yorker who graduated from Harvard College with a BA in Art History in 1997 and from Harvard Business School in 2003. After working in Merchant Banking and Mergers and Acquisitions, Kate gained her retail experience as a stationery buyer at Kate’s Paperie, before launching Pickett’s Press.

Kate was classically trained at the Student Art League of New York, and in private classes with the founder of the Children’s Art League of New York. At a young age, her work was recognized for its commercial appeal, when she was commissioned to create bespoke designs for the American Folk Art museum gift shop. She continued studying Studio Art at Harvard, as a minor with Art History as her major.

Along with art and business, Kate’s interest in social entrepreneurship is long-standing – she founded the Children’s Art League of New York with her childhood art teacher in 1997 and served as Director of the Board until 2011. Additionally, she serves on the Board of the Society of Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, and on the Children's Advisory Council of New York Hospital.

As a working mother of three young children, Kate understands that there are appropriate times for exquisite engraving, occasions for digital printing, and even a need for e-mailed invitations. Believing great style should fit any budget, Kate’s lines of stationery encompass a wide selection of printing methods. Her letterpress and engraving collection is the highest end of artistic hand printing; while the digitally printed collection of cards and invitations is available online at an everyday price point.

A self-proclaimed travel buff, Kate’s favorite places to travel continue to inspire each new collection- whether it’s of her childhood in New York City and Palm Beach, with summers on the Maine Coast and the east end of Long Island, to her favorite family vacation spot in Lyford Cay, to her frequent trips to St Barth’s, London, Paris, and the South of France, she is constantly on the fore of confident style. Never over the top, her discerning clientele trusts her recommendations and designs. This trust in good taste is understood by others, as is the elegant simple and real sophistication of the brand.

At all times, she loves the artistry of the product, and the American elegance of traditional simplicity and design. Therefore, every design produced from the Pickett’s Press atelier is hand drawn in our studio, regardless of printing method. Kate Pickett Davis is the ideal modern woman to take on the challenge of keeping alive the traditional processes of printing which she loves, by making bespoke stationery and weddings accessible to anyone. Pickett's Press is truly a Modern American Tradition.
