Ravi Xavier Fernandes has a diverse and extensive work experience. Ravi Xavier is currently serving as an Honorary Professor at the Indian Institute of Technology in Guwahati since September 2021. Prior to this, they held the role of a Member (PI) at the Excellence Cluster, Sustainable and Energy Efficient Aviation (SE2A) starting from October 2018.
In 2017, Ravi Fernandes worked as a Member at the Fuels Joint Research Group, where they contributed to research on fuels. From September 2016, they took on the role of Chairman "Measurements of Energy and Related Quantities" at the International Measurement Confederation (IMEKO).
Before that, they held the position of a Professor at TU Braunschweig, starting from May 2014, and was also a Member at Niedersächsisches Forschungszentrum Fahrzeugtechnik (NFF) from January 2014.
Ravi Fernandes has also worked as the Head of Department, Director & Professor at the Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt (PTB) from April 2013. In 2012, they served as a JSPS Visiting Professor at The University of Tokyo, where they focused on initiating and enhancing research collaborations between Japan and Germany.
Prior to their time at The University of Tokyo, Ravi Fernandes worked as an Assistant Professor at RWTH Aachen University from September 2009 to March 2013. Ravi Xavier also gained research experience as a Postdoctoral Appointee at Sandia National Laboratories from April 2007 to September 2009.

Ravi Xavier Fernandes completed their MSc degree in Physical Chemistry from Goa University from 1996 to 1998. Subsequently, they attended Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) from 2000 to 2003, where they obtained a Dr. rer. nat degree in Chemistry (Physical). Alongside this, they also pursued a PhD in Physical Chemistry during the same period.
