Job description

Are you ready to take your design skills to the next level and shape the way the world experiences walls? We’re on the lookout for a creative Specialty & Luxe Naturals Designer who will play a pivotal role in crafting innovative wallcoverings that capture the essence of style, culture, and functionality. Your journey with us will be filled with discovery, collaboration, and the chance to influence the future of interiors. This individual will work a hybrid schedule of 3 days in-office with the flexibility for additional days based off business needs.

Concept

  • Attending trend presentations, draw insights and conclusions for future design forecasts
  • Seek inspiration from travel for innovative story and design concepts
  • Researching color trends across various platforms
  • Researching innovative styles/techniques to fulfill a market need or create a market demand
  • Analyze category sales and market trends, integrating findings into new collections
  • Conceptualizing, developing and presenting new product ideas that aligned with seasonal themes
  • Collaborating with the team to develop and innovate wallcovering collection
  • Proposing collections to address market needs or stimulate demand
  • Strategically planning category recolors, subcategory quotas & planning for vendor diversification according to annual quotas
  • Work with the Marketing team on seasonal launch strategy proposal
  • Commissioning, purchasing, and painting artwork for new concepts
  • Working with suppliers to obtain first concept prototypes for approval
  • Analyze trend data found on WGSN and other sources and applying learnings to design work

Development and Collection Approval

  • Requesting strike-offs from suppliers that align with seasonal themes, color palettes, and trends
  • Preparing thoughtful sign-off packages for approval including the rationale behind design
  • choices, color palettes, specifications, and budget
  • Studying category sales and market trends and applying learnings when creating
  • new collections
  • Develop new product categories to continue to diversify the product range, ie., new materials
  • & techniques
  • Collaborate with suppliers to communicate timelines and milestone due dates for projects
  • and obtaining and documenting product specifications
  • Create and editing artwork and pattern layouts by hand and PowerPoint
  • Developing new artwork in-house through artistic expression and different mediums
  • Create artwork repeats, pattern matches, and detract as needed
  • Confirming and documenting product specifications with the supplier, such as repeat, width,
  • composition, pricing, minimums, etc.
  • Archiving and maintaining files for artwork, patterns, and colorway development
  • Customizing projects, developing artwork, repeat work, colorings, color customizations for
  • existing items, and scaling adjustments for a personalized touch
  • Work with the Quality Control Technician and wallcovering installers to evaluate
  • the performance of products and assist in the creation of hanging instructions
  • Conducting product presentations and training others
  • Initiate and maintaining product category training presentations seasonally
  • Ability to give product presentations about their category to train others
  • Collaborate with Marketing to propose the best sales vehicles for new products that allow the
  • clients to get a strong understanding of the product's design and color proposal for Photography, Rep kits, and showroom visuals

Sourcing

  • Maintain and cultivating vendor relationships
  • Seek out, onboard, and source new vendors, mills & materials
  • Work alongside Supply Chain to qualify new specifications and pricing
  • Negotiating preliminary pricing, terms, and SLAs
  • Vet potential new vendors, technologies, and investments in collaboration with Supply Chain
  • Ensure compliance with vendor agreements and quotas
  • Schedule and participate in virtual and in-person vendor meetings
  • Finalize supplier agreements and collaborate on product diversification
  • Troubleshoot with suppliers and internal teams to maintain product quality

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Fine Arts or related field
  • Minimum of 2-3 year’s experience in design related field
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 25%
  • Adobe Photoshop & Illustrator
  • AVA Cadcam
  • Microsoft Office Proficiency
  • Painting & Drawing
