Katherine "Karen" Avelino currently serves as the Senior Vice-President for Cruise Operations and Executive Director of Business Development at Philippine Transmarine Carriers, Inc., a position held since April 2017. In addition, Katherine Avelino has been the Executive Director at the Philippine Center for Advanced Maritime Simulation and Training Inc. since January 2007, focusing on training and developing seafarers. Previously, Katherine Avelino held the role of Executive Director for Cruise Division at Phil. Transmarine Carriers, Inc. from November 2011 to January 2021 and served as Executive Director for Global Outsourcing Services at First Maritime Shared Services from December 2009 to April 2019. Katherine Avelino holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Ateneo de Davao University and an MBA from Ateneo de Manila University, complemented by a high school education from the University of the Immaculate Conception.
