Hany Assasa, Ph.D. has a diverse work experience in the field of wireless networks and telecommunications. Hany started their career in 2010 with an internship at MTN SYRIA where they gained knowledge of GSM network components and radio equipment. Hany then went on to work as a Core Network Packet Switch Engineer at Huawei, where they were responsible for network rollout and maintenance. In 2014, Hany worked as an Internship Researcher at Ericsson, where they built session mobility aware HTTP proxy and enabled mobility of UEs in a local breakout use case using SDN.
Hany pursued their Ph.D. in millimeter-wave wireless networks at IMDEA Networks Institute. Hany conducted research on IEEE 802.11ad MAC/PHY layer simulations, mmWave phased antenna array modeling, and mmWave-based location systems. Hany also worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher at IMDEA Networks Institute, focusing on IEEE 802. 11ay SU/MU-MIMO MAC/PHY simulations and managed deployment of high-density IEEE 802.11ad/ay based networks.
Hany also gained industry experience during their internships at NEC Laboratories Europe GmbH and imec. At NEC Laboratories, they worked on multi-RAT mmWave access in the 5G group and deployed an experimental testbed on mmWave. At imec, they designed algorithms and implemented 60 GHz MU-MIMO demonstrators.
Most recently, Hany joined Pharrowtech as a System Engineer in 2020.
Hany Assasa, Ph.D. obtained their Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronics and Communications Engineering from Damascus University in 2010. In 2012, they pursued their Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Electronics Engineering from Politecnico di Torino. The following year, in 2013, they completed their Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Information and Communication Technologies from KTH Royal Institute of Technology.
In 2015, Hany began their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Telematics Engineering at Universidad Carlos III de Madrid, completing it in 2019. Throughout their education, Hany Assasa also gained additional certifications. In 2009, they obtained the CCNA Certificate of achievement: Interconnecting Cisco Network Devices – ICND (1 & 2) from New Horizon. In 2011, they received the Paper-Based Test TOEFL certification from The TOEFL® test. Lastly, in 2016, they acquired the Wireless Prototyping Fundamentals using NI SDR and LabVIEW certification from National Instruments.
