Rosangela Canino-Koning has a diverse work experience in the fields of software engineering and research. Rosangela is currently working as a Senior Software Engineer at Pharos Systems International since January 2020. Prior to this, they worked at Michigan State University as a Postdoctoral Researcher from January 2018 to December 2019 and as a Ph.D Candidate from January 2010 to December 2017. During their time at Michigan State University, they studied the evolution of evolvability, modularity, and adaptation in digital organisms and also developed Avida, an open-source digital evolution framework. Before their research work, Rosangela worked at GE Aviation as a Software Engineer from November 2003 to January 2010. During their tenure there, they led the development and deployment of a series of Loadable Database Packing Programs and also developed enterprise PC applications for Environmental Stress Screening and production of Navigation Databases.
Rosangela Canino-Koning completed a Bachelor of Arts degree in Computer Science from Grand Valley State University from 1999 to 2001. Rosangela then went on to pursue a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree from Michigan State University from 2009 to 2017, specializing in Computer Science and Ecology and Evolutionary Biology.
