Thomas Mitchell has a diverse work experience spanning over several decades. Thomas began their career as an Analytical Research Chemist at Lea Ronal Inc, where they analyzed inorganic precious metal plating solutions and developed analytical methods. Thomas then moved on to Altana Pharma as a Quality Control Chemist, conducting analytical testing following USP/NF procedures for a GMP/GLP manufacturing laboratory.
In 1992, Mitchell joined Eli Lilly / Sphinx Pharmaceuticals as an Associate Senior Scientist, where they developed and improved analytical methods and procedures to support synthetic chemistry and combinatorial chemistry groups. Thomas also conducted chemical analysis and research on various sample types.
Mitchell then worked at Paradigm Genetics as a Research Scientist, leading research on metabolomic profiling and developing analytical methods using TOF-GC-MS. Thomas later joined Craft Technologies as a Chromatography Group Leader, managing chromatography operations and interacting with clients.
In 2007, Mitchell became a Scientist III/Supervisor at Microbac Laboratories, where they provided leadership and defined project standards. Thomas then joined Catalent Pharma Solutions RTP, NC as a Lead Scientist/Project Director, managing technical objectives, supervising staff, and overseeing the execution of method transfer and validation.
From 2017 to 2021, Mitchell worked at Aurobindo Pharma USA, Inc. as a Sr. Manager, Analytical R&D, responsible for developing, validating, and troubleshooting test methods for dermatology formulations.
Currently, Mitchell serves as the Corporate Director of Quality Control/R&D Operations at Pharma Tech Industries. In this role, they are responsible for strategic development and execution of laboratory quality strategies, customer-facing initiatives, and the implementation of global standardized QC policies and standards.
Thomas Mitchell received their Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry from SUNY, State University of New York Utica Rome, NY from 1985 to 1987. Prior to that, they completed their Associate of Science degree in Marine Technology from Suffolk Community College in Riverhead, NY from 1982 to 1984. In addition to their formal education, Thomas Mitchell has obtained several certifications throughout their career, including Project Management Essentials, Management Training: Love 'Em or Lose 'Em, Management Training: The Five Choices to Extraordinary Productivity, Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry (ICP-MS) Nexion, Introduction to API LC/MS Techniques, STN Basics: Introduction to Online Searching, API 100/300 LC/MS Quantitation, Enantiomeric Separations, Practical Approach to Reverse-Phase HPLC Method Development, and Restek's Capillary Chromatography.
