James de Smidt has a strong background in finance and has held several notable positions throughout their career. James started their career as a Statistical Analyst at WesBank in 2004 and worked until 2005. James then moved to Ernst & Young, where they worked as a Supervisor from 2008 to 2010. In 2011, James joined PG SmartGlass as a Group Financial Manager, a role they held until 2017. Currently, they are the Financial Director at PFG Building Glass, where they have been working since 2017.

James de Smidt has a diverse education history. James pursued a B.Eng degree in Engineering (Computer Electronic) from the University of Pretoria/Universiteit van Pretoria, graduating in 2003. In 2006, they attended the University of Cape Town to pursue a PGDA degree in Accounting. During 2007, they attended the University of Johannesburg for a B.Com (H) degree in Accounting. In 2008, they enrolled at SAICA, where they completed the QE1 & PPE program in Accounting, which ended in 2009.
