Cathy Serventi has over 25 years of work experience. In 1990, they began their career as an Assistant Bookkeeper at The Balance Sheet. Cathy then moved to University of California, Santa Cruz in 1993, where they served as a Financial Assistant at the School of Social Sciences and Student Organization, Advising & Resources (SOAR). In 1995, they became a Teaching Assistant at the University of Pittsburgh's Department of Anthropology. Cathy then served as a Teaching Assistant at the University Center for Teaching and Learning in 2000. In 2003, they took on the role of Lead Teaching Fellow for the Department of Anthropology's Summer Field Schools. In 2004, they became a Teaching Fellow/Administrative Assistant for the University of Pittsburgh's Graduate Student Organization and Faculty of Arts & Sciences. Cathy then joined Google in 2006, where they held a variety of roles, including Program Manager, Chief of Staff, Executive Assistant, Community Affairs Lead, and Administrative Assistant II & III. In 2018, they began their current role as Executive Office General Manager at Petuum, Inc.

Cathy Serventi attended the University of Pittsburgh from 1994 to 2005, where they earned a Master of Arts in Anthropology. Prior to this, they attended the University of California, Santa Cruz from 1987 to 1994, where they earned a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology.
