Jeremy Boak

Jeremy Boak has a diverse and extensive work experience. Jeremy currently works as a Senior Geoscience Advisor at TEVERRA (formerly PETROLERN LLC), where they specialize in identifying and characterizing prospects for converting oil and gas wells to geothermal wells. Jeremy is developing a screening tool for wells that combines subsurface, wellbore, and surface components, as well as economic and logistic/regulatory factors. Jeremy is also evaluating methods to replace sealed radioactive sources in well logging tools with drilling vibration data using machine learning and artificial intelligence.

Prior to their current role, Jeremy Boak worked as a Consulting Geologist at Hurricane Peak Geoscience in 2019.

From 2015 to 2019, they served as the Director and State Geologist of Oklahoma at the University of Oklahoma.

Jeremy Boak had a Non-Executive Director role at San Leon Energy from 2008 to 2015. In this role, they focused on building a diverse portfolio of oil and gas assets in low-risk countries such as Poland, Morocco, Italy, Ireland, and the Netherlands.

From 2006 to 2015, they worked at the Colorado School of Mines. Jeremy held various positions including Director of COSTAR, a research center funded by ExxonMobil and Total, where they studied rock mechanics, geology, stratigraphy, and geochemistry of oil shale. From 1989 to 1994, they worked as a Branch Chief at the U.S. Department of Energy. In this role, they led a team of national laboratory and contractor experts to assess the performance of the proposed Yucca Mountain repository for disposing spent nuclear fuel and high-level nuclear waste.

Jeremy Boak started their career as a Consulting Petroleum Geologist at Boak Enterprises in 1987, where they conducted studies for ARCO Oil & Gas Company.

From 1983 to 1987, they worked as an Exploration Geologist at ARCO Oil & Gas Company.

From 1966 to 1970, they attended Taft School in Watertown, CT, where they completed their high school education.

In 1970, they enrolled at Harvard University and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Geological Sciences in 1974.

Continuing their education, they pursued a Master of Science degree in Geological Sciences at the University of Washington from 1974 to 1977.

Returning to Harvard University, they furthered their studies and completed a Master of Science degree in Geological Sciences from 1978 to 1980.

Finally, they obtained their Ph.D. in Geological Sciences from Harvard University in 1982.
