JJ Trout has a diverse work experience spanning various industries and roles. They started their career as a Freshmen Seminar Leader at Creighton University in 2004 and later became a Teacher's Assistant and Resident Advisor at the same institution. In 2007, they worked in sales at The Bike Way. From 2008 to 2009, they were involved in Continuing Education Administration at the Medical Education Collaborative.
In 2009, JJ Trout joined the PSIA-AASI Professional Ski Instructors of America - American Association of Snowboard Instructors as an IT Support specialist and later transitioned into the role of Project Manager/Business Analyst. They worked on creating standardized processes and technology tools for the organization.
From 2012 to 2014, they applied their skills as an Instructor at Earth Treks Climbing Centers.
In 2013, JJ Trout worked at Children's Hospital Colorado as a Healthy Steps + Researcher for Project CLIMB, where they created training materials and assisted with conferences.
They joined the Citizens Budget Advisory Committee at the City of Golden, CO in 2015 and later became the Board Chair of Parks, Recreation, and Museum Advisory Board until 2019.
In 2014, JJ Trout also began their tenure at PeopleForBikes as the Director of Data + Technology for Business Network + Government Relations Department. They contributed to the organization's mission of promoting bike riding and building better communities. Currently, they serve as the Chief of Staff at PeopleForBikes.
In 2020, they took on the role of Mayor Pro Tem + District 1 City Councilor at the City of Golden, where they represent constituents and are involved in various committees and initiatives focused on climate action and community development.
JJ Trout completed a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Psychology at Creighton University from 2003 to 2007. Later, from 2012 to 2013, they pursued a Master of Science (MS) degree in Biomedical Sciences from Regis University. Additionally, in December 2013, JJ obtained a Personal Trainer certification from the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM). In May 2013, they also obtained a Healthcare Providers CPR and AED certification from the American Heart Association.
