We are seeking a Director, Business Development & Investor Relations who will bring an entrepreneurial mindset and strong relationships within the Family Office, Endowment, Foundation, and similar channels. This role will focus on driving growth with our credit opportunities mandate, building a referral pipeline and fostering key relationships with “Centers of Influence” (COIs) in the Family office ecosystem. This is an excellent opportunity for a business development or sales professional with a demonstrated track record of success who is excited to play a key role in supporting the strategic growth plans at Pender.

Main Responsibilities include:

  • Collaborate with leadership, marketing, and various investment teams to build execute a tactical plan to attract assets from a range of family office and accredited High Net Worth Individuals.
  • Deliver on activity targets to develop a strong pipeline of new opportunities to achieve fundraising goals.
  • Identify and prioritize opportunities across institutions and family offices in Canada. Acquire new clients through conducting high quality interactions with clients, prospects, centres of influence and consultants.
  • Nurture relationships with prospective investors through effectively communicating Pender’s investment philosophy and regularly meeting to discuss market insights and performance.
  • Works extensively to meet and/or exceed sales objectives.
  • Execute the sales process systematically, with emphasis on teamwork, transparency, and accountability with consistent and accurate usage of CRM (Salesforce).
  • Contribute to investor presentations, reports and other materials to effectively communicate Pender’s investment strategies, performance and opportunities.
  • Update senior management regularly on activity, pipeline, and feedback pertaining to all fundraising efforts.

Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of business development in fund sales and/or services.
  • CFA, CAIA or advanced degree preferred.
  • Strategic thinker, experienced in sales with a strong list of relationships as well as a demonstrated track record of developing deep trust with family offices, endowments, foundations and centres of influence.
  • Expertise selling both public and private market investment mandates.
  • Proven ability to develop long lasting, trusted relationships with internal and external partners.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively and the drive to build and develop a business in an entrepreneurial, performance-oriented environment.
  • Excellent written, oral, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to undertake a moderate amount of travel.
  • Ability to manage a challenging workload in an entrepreneurial environment and deliver results.
  • Experience using Salesforce.
  • Bilingualism is an asset.

We are sharing that the estimated salary range for this position is $120,000 - $150,000 per year. In determining final salary, Pender considers many factors including the candidate’s qualifications, relevant experience, job responsibilities, market conditions, position location and internal equity. Our aim is to ensure fair compensation practices that align with industry standards while acknowledging the unique value and expertise each individual brings to the role. The final base salary for the offer will be presented as part of a competitive compensation package.
