Derek Hood is an experienced engineering and operations professional with a robust background in managing large-scale projects and enhancing operational performance across various sectors. Currently serving as the Engineering Manager at Peel Ports Group since May 2015, Derek provides engineering leadership at the Hunterston Coal terminal, focusing on coal handling and logistics. Previous roles include Operations and Safety Manager at Hargreaves Services, Account Manager positions at Costain Group and Hargreaves Industrial Services, and Site Manager at Norec Ltd, where Derek managed comprehensive contract performance at the Longannet site. In addition to a strong tenure in engineering and operations, Derek held the position of Engineering Director at the Scottish Coal Company from 2000 to 2002.
