Jan Matthijsen is a senior researcher at the Netherlands Environmental Assessment Agency (PBL) since 2002, specializing in climate, energy, and air quality. Previously, Jan served as Program Manager and Expert at the Netherlands Model and Data Centre (NMDC) from May 2010 to July 2012, and as a senior researcher in air quality modelling at RIVM from 1997 to 2002. Jan has also conducted research on radiative transfer of UV radiation at RIVM and held a European post-doctoral position focused on air quality modelling and radiative transfer at Laboratoire d'aerologie from 1995 to 1997. Jan began academic pursuits as a Ph.D. researcher at TNO Bouw en ondergrond from 1990 to 1995. Academic qualifications include an M.Sc. in Meteorology and Oceanography from Utrecht University, completed in 1989.
