Cynthia Galas is the Chief Compliance Officer at PayQwick. Cynthia has over fifteen years of experience in the financial compliance industry.
Galas began their career at Currencycloud in 2016 as the BSA AML Compliance Manager for LATAM and the Americas. In this role, they were responsible for developing and implementing an enterprise-wide compliance program in accordance with Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Fraud, and Anti-Terrorism legislation. This included risk-based policies, procedures, and controls for the MSB (money service business), and the risk management framework. Galas also developed and implemented a new end-to-end KYC client on-boarding process for North America and LATAM clients.
In 2017, Galas left Currencycloud to join MUFG as the AML, Financial Crimes Compliance Manager. In this role, they were responsible for Inform management of audit findings, industry trends and concerns through monthly KRI’s and various management reports. Provided on-going support to Sales & Account Managers regarding new product implementation, training, and any other AML related requests. Galas also served as the liaison between MUFG and all regulatory bodies. Interfaced with government and regulatory bodies with regard to all matters related to AML / BSA and also state registration and money transmitter licensing project.
Galas left MUFG in 2021 to join Golden 1 Credit Union as the BSA AML & OFAC Manager. In this role, they are responsible for leading partnership project between Golden 1 Credit Union and community federal savings bank to facilitate local payments for Top-Up service to enable customers to send USD from their US bank account; and also for Collection Service where customers can collect USD, store, convert and repatriate funds to their account.
Galas has a wealth of experience in financial compliance and is an expert in the field of Anti-Money Laundering (AML).
Cynthia Galas has a Master of Business Administration from Syracuse University's Martin J. Whitman School of Management, a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration and Management from William Paterson University of New Jersey, and an Associate's Degree in Criminal Justice-Criminology from Passaic County Community College. Cynthia also has an Associate of Arts and Sciences in Criminal Justice/Safety Studies from Passaic County Community College.
Cynthia Galas reports to Bob Craig, CEO. They are on a team with Jacob Medina - IT Project Manager, Jesse Taylor - Chief Revenue Officer, and Zach Seiwerts - Head of Operations.
