Gabriel A. Miller has a diverse work experience in various organizations and institutions. In 2021, they worked as a Technology Director at the Paul G. Allen Family Foundation, where they focused on strategic grantmaking for biodiversity and climate change. Prior to that, in 2020, they were selected as a Fulbright-Nehru Senior Scholar by the U.S. Department of State, but due to COVID policies, they couldn't travel to India for the fellowship. From 2019 to 2020, Gabriel served as a Visiting Scholar at Parsons School of Design - The New School, exploring the relationship between design and natural systems. Gabriel A. also worked as the Director of Research & Development at San Diego Zoo Global from 2013 to 2020. Gabriel's academic experience includes roles as a Research Associate at Harvard University in 2015 and a Postdoctoral Scholar from 2009 to 2013. Gabriel A. also had teaching roles as a Teaching Fellow at Harvard University in 2010 and a Teaching Fellow at Duke University in 2004. Gabriel's early research experience includes being a Research Assistant at Caltech from 1998 to 2001.

Gabriel A. Miller holds a B.S. with Honors degree in Biology and Chemistry from Caltech, which they completed from 1994 to 1999. Gabriel A. then pursued a Master of Science in Neuroscience at Duke University School of Medicine, graduating in 2003. Finally, they earned a Ph.D. in Biology from the University of Oxford, completing their studies in 2008.
