John Welch

John Welch has a diverse and extensive work experience spanning over several industries. John began their career as a Law Clerk at Fibich & Garth, P.C., working on personal injury and product liability cases. John then joined Taylor & Warren, LLP, where they defended corporate clients in environmental toxic tort and product liability cases.

Welch later established their own law firm, The Welch Law Firm, P.L.L.C., where they handled various civil litigation cases and criminal defense, including DWI defense. After that, they worked as a Landman and Attorney at Petrohawk Energy, where they conducted title research and due diligence for A&D projects.

John continued their career as a Landman and Attorney at ConocoPhillips, managing title clearance projects in the Gulf Coast region. John also worked at Shell as an In-House Land Representative, helping with drilling program title clearance and acquisitions.

Welch then transitioned to CenterPoint Energy, serving as In-House Counsel, providing legal support in eminent domain litigation and transactional matters. Most recently, they worked at Pattern Energy Group as the Director & Transaction Counsel, overseeing real estate transactions.

In addition to their legal career, Welch served in the United States Army Reserve for over 20 years, achieving the rank of Major. John fulfilled various roles, including combat engineering and infantry platoon leader, and participated in overseas deployments.

John Welch pursued their higher education by first attending Abilene Christian University from 1985 to 1988. During this time, they obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and Government. Subsequently, they enrolled in the South Texas College of Law Houston from 1996 to 1999, where they earned a Doctor of Law - JD degree, specializing in Law.
