A medical doctor with more than 15 years of experience leading and managing donor-funded health programs in Tanzania, Dr. Joseph Komwihangiro combines his technical experience with his passion for helping women and young people. He joined Pathfinder as our country director in Tanzania in 2017.
Most recently, Joseph served as the director of health services for Marie Stopes International in Tanzania. He has served in senior management positions for a number of international non-governmental organizations in the past eight years, and he has experience with a variety of donor organizations—from CIDA to USAID to DFID. He also has experience designing and implementing multi-component projects covering HIV & AIDS, malaria, family planning, maternal and child health, nutrition, and sanitation.
Joseph received his MPH from University College London, his MD from Pecs Medical School in Hungary, and his MBA from the Eastern and Southern Africa Management Institute. He also received his post-graduate diploma in poverty analysis from the Institute of Social Sciences. He speaks English, Kiswahili, and Hungarian.
