Thomas Hinton has a diverse work experience spanning over several companies. Thomas started their career as the Director of Corporate Actuarial at Royal & SunAlliance Financial in 1992. Thomas then moved to Maritime Life Assurance Company in 2001 as the Manager of Support and Development. In 2002, they joined AIG Life of Canada as an Associate Actuary. Thomas later worked at Canada Life International Re & London Life General Reinsurance Company as the Director of Reinsurance Financial Management. In 2008, they joined Manulife Financial as an AVP & Actuary in Reinsurance. Thomas then worked at Pacific Services Canada Limited as an AVP in Reinsurance. In 2011, they joined Aurigen Reinsurance Company as part of the Corporate Finance and Actuarial team. Thomas later became the Vice President of Corporate Finance at Aurigen. In 2013, they became the Vice President of Corporate Finance at Aurigen Reinsurance Company. Finally, in 2017, they joined PartnerRe as the Vice President of Corporate Finance. In 2018, they also took on the additional role of Vice President of Risk and Capital.

Thomas Hinton earned a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Actuarial Science and Computer Science from Western University. Thomas attended the university from 1988 to 1992.
