From 1989 to 1991, Steven Welch worked as a QA Engineer at General Dynamics. From 1991 to 1994, they worked as a Scientist at Alcon, a Novartis company. From 2001 to 2019, they worked as a Physician. In 2019, they became the Chief Medical Officer / Physician at Parker County Hospital District.

Dr. Steven Welch attended Texas Wesleyan University from 1984 to 1988, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Chemistry. Steven pursued further education at UNT Health Science Center, earning a Doctor of Osteopathy (D.O.) degree in Medicine from 1994 to 1998. Additionally, they obtained certifications in Wound Care, Diplomate from the American Board of Family Medicine, and a Certificate of Added Qualification in 2010.
