Christopher Shelton

Instrumentation & Controls Engineer at Par Pacific Holdings

Christopher Shelton has a diverse work experience in the field of engineering. Christopher started their career at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where they worked as an Undergraduate Physics Researcher. After that, they gained experience as a Process Engineering Co-Op at Monsanto Company and later as a Chemical Engineering Co-Op at LyondellBasell.

In 2015, Christopher joined Honeywell UOP as a Development Engineer, where they worked on Hydroprocessing Technology Services. Christopher also served as a Chief Field Advisor, assisting with the checkout, commissioning, and training of personnel in refinery, petrochemical, and offshore units globally.

Christopher then moved to Valero Energy Corporation in 2019, where they held multiple roles. Christopher started as a Process Engineer, providing support for various units and participating in management of change and turnaround preparations. Christopher later became a Control Systems Engineer, offering DCS, PLC, and controls support in the complex areas of the refinery. In their most recent role at Valero Energy Corporation, they served as a Senior Control Systems Engineer, working on upgrading systems and conducting inspections for safety systems.

Currently, Christopher is working at Par Pacific Holdings, Inc. as a Sr. Instrumentation & Controls Engineer.

Christopher Shelton obtained a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in the period of 2010 to 2015. In 2014, they also pursued Chemical Engineering at the National University of Singapore. In addition to their academic qualifications, they have obtained several certifications throughout their career.
