Carl Toews is an experienced data scientist with extensive experience in machine learning, statistical analysis, and Python programming. Carl has worked in various industries, including retail grocery, debt valuation, and space surveillance. Carl has led several projects and initiatives, including developing safety stock models to optimize expected returns, building a photo-booking app that combines object detection with natural language processing, and investigating optimal control for natural resource management. Carl holds several roles in academia, including an associate professorship at the University of Puget Sound and an assistant professorship at Duquesne University. Moreover, they have published several papers on topics as diverse as image processing, matrix perturbation, and optimal control.
Carl Toews received a Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics from Claremont McKenna College in 1994 with the highest honors. Carl then pursued a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Mathematics from the University of Virginia, which they completed in 2002. In 2017, they obtained a certification in Machine Learning from Coursera.
