Richard Carter has over 20 years of work experience in the field of bioinformatics and information systems. Richard currently holds the position of Senior Director of Information Systems at Oxford Nanopore Technologies Ltd, where they are responsible for managing a team of scientists and analyzing real-time customer metrics from the company's USB DNA sequencer. Prior to their current role, Richard served as the Director of Information Systems and the Associate Director of Data Integration at Oxford Nanopore. Richard has also worked as a Senior Scientist at the same company, where they developed customer interfaces for nanopore-based sequencing data analysis. Earlier in their career, Richard worked as a Computational Biologist at Illumina, a Senior Scientist at Inpharmatica Ltd, a Post Doctoral Researcher at UC Berkeley, and a Post Doctoral Researcher at the University of California, Davis. Richard'sexpertise includes data pipelines for next-generation sequencing applications, Perl and web script development, and bioinformatics.
Richard Carter earned their Bachelor of Science degree in Applied Physics from Liverpool John Moores University, which they attended from 1989 to 1992. Richard further pursued their education in the field of Biophysics and obtained their Ph.D. from the same institution from 1992 to 1995.
