Jono Mckendry has a work experience starting in 2011 as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Leeds. In 2012, they moved to the University of Glasgow to work as a Postdoctoral Researcher until 2014. From 2014 onwards, Jono joined Oxford Nanopore Technologies Ltd, where they started as a Research Scientist and later became a Senior Scientist.

Jono Mckendry earned their education from the University of Leeds. Jono completed their Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Physics from 2001 to 2005. Following this, they pursued a Master of Education (MEd) degree with a focus on Secondary Education and Teaching from 2005 to 2007. During the same period, they also obtained a Master's degree in Nanotechnology. Jono Mckendry further advanced their education and achieved a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Physics from the University of Leeds, which spanned from 2007 to 2011.
