Edna Southard is a dedicated public servant and academic with extensive experience in the arts and community governance. Since November 2013, Edna has served as a Councilwoman for the City of Oxford, Ohio, where involvement includes the Planning Commission, Parks and Recreation Board, Sharefest Planning Committee, and Charter Review Commission. Edna holds the position of Emerita Curator of Collections and Exhibitions and Assistant Professor of Art History at Miami University, having lectured internationally and reviewed museum grant proposals. Previous roles include adjunct professor at Earlham College, where a Ford/Knight collaborative research course on Divided Memory and the Holocaust was taught, and Curator of Collections and Exhibitions at Miami University, where Edna curated over 300 exhibitions. Educational qualifications include a Ph.D. in Art History from Indiana University Bloomington and an M.A. in Art History from the University of Chicago.
