Professor Joseph Tah is Pro Vice-Chancellor of the Faculty of Technology, Design and Environment. Prior to this, he was Associate Dean Strategy and Development in the Faculty and Professor of Project Management in the School of the Built Environment. His responsibilities included leading on the coordination of input into the development of faculty strategic plans, recruitment, and deputising for the PVC/Dean in the day-to-day leadership and management of the Faculty. He was previously the Founding Head of the School of the Built Environment.
His academic career spans over three decades in which he has developed a wealth of strong transdisciplinary intellectual resources built on his research interests which are at the intersection of civil engineering, construction management, computer science and artificial intelligence. He has generated significant external research income through involvement in many research and consultancy projects funded by the EPSRC, EC, Innovate UK, ERDF, ESF, and others. His publications are highly cited and include a co-authored book and over 180 refereed journal and conference papers. He is on the editorial boards of two international journals.
Prior to moving to Oxford, Joe was Professor of Construction Information Technology and Associate Head of School of the Built Environment for Academic Enterprise at the University of Salford and previously Professor of Construction Management at London South Bank University.
Joe is on the Board of Trustees of the Oxford Preservation Trust (OPT) and is a member of the Oxfordshire Local Enterprise Partnership (OxLEP) Clean Growth sub-group. He is a Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and a member of the Chartered Institute of Building.
