James Jones, Esq. has had a successful career in the business and legal industry. In 2014, they co-founded Court Buddy (acquired) and as Co-Founder and CEO, they took $1,500 in founder savings plus hard work and turned it into an award-winning national legaltech marketplace valued at $23 million in under 5 years. In 2019, they were recognized as the Tech Entrepreneur of The Year by Black Enterprise Magazine. In 2020, they became a Mentor and Entrepreneur in Residence at 500 Startups. In 2021, they co-founded Bump by Ownors Technologies, Inc., an AI-driven fintech platform for virtual 1:1 mentorship plus revenue collecting, tracking, and micro-advances for 50 million small-medium sized creator businesses. James also became a Portfolio Company Co-Founder at Connetic Ventures, Sunstone Management, and Long Beach Accelerator. Additionally, they became a Founder Mentor at Black Ambition, founded by industry mogul Pharrell Williams. In 2023, they became a Forbes Business Councilmember and Member of the Newsweek Expert Forum.
James Jones, Esq. attended Winston-Salem State University from 1997 to 2002, where they earned a Bachelor's degree in Communication, Journalism, and Related Programs. James then attended the University of Florida - Fredric G. Levin College of Law from 2003 to 2006, where they earned a Doctor of Law (J.D.). In 2018, they completed an Executive MBA Certificate, Scaling Ventures at Harvard Business School, with a focus on Business Administration, Management and Operations.
