Yi Ru began their work experience as an Intern at Sunoptec Co., Ltd. in 2016, where they worked for one month. After that, they interned as an Instructor at Shanghai Zhangxiaomen Education Technology Co., Ltd. for ten months. In 2017, they interned at Longfor Properties Co. Ltd for one month. In 2018, they worked as a Research Assistant at the Computer Vision Lab at the University of California, Santa Cruz for three months. Since 2019, Yi Ru has been employed at Outward, Inc., initially as a Software Engineer Associate and then as a Software Engineer. The end dates for the roles at Outward, Inc. are not provided.

Yi Ru obtained a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Opto-electronics Information Science & Engineering from Zhejiang University in the period between 2013 and 2017. Following that, they pursued a Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering at the University of California, Santa Cruz from 2017 to 2019.
