Joana Laranjeira Pais has a diverse work experience in various companies and roles. Joana started their career as a Freelance Website Developer for Patchmimo.Lda in 2014 and later worked for Miguel Opes and Mystery Box, Unipessoal Lda in the same role.

In 2016, Joana joined Hi Interactive as a UX Designer, working on projects for clients such as Uniplaces and Honda Automóveis Portugal. Joana also worked as a UX Designer for A-to-Be, being part of their MoveBeyond project team and Self-Service Tolling Machine team.

Joana co-founded Merqantis in 2017, where they served as the Chief Product Officer. Joana was also involved with the Interaction Design Foundation (IDF), holding various leadership roles, including Country Manager for Portugal and leader of IDF Lisbon Group.

In 2019, Joana transitioned to a UX Expert role at OutSystems, working on customer success projects. Joana later moved to the Research & Development department, initially as a Senior Product Designer and currently as the Lead Product Designer.

Additionally, Joana has been a Workshop Tutor at EDIT. - Disruptive Digital Education since 2022 and a Teacher on the UX/UI Professional Master program at Nuclio Digital School since the same year.

Joana Laranjeira Pais completed their undergraduate studies in Industrial Design at Esad, Escola Superior de Artes e Design, Caldas da Rainha from 2005 to 2011. In 2008 to 2009, they participated in an Erasmus program at Kuopion Muotoiluakatemia- Kuopio Academy of Design, also studying Industrial Design. In 2012, they pursued a Master's degree in Ergonomics - Usability and User Experience at Lisbon Technical University - Faculty of Human Kinetics. Additionally, Joana has obtained multiple certifications in various areas such as entrepreneurship, innovation, design thinking, artificial intelligence, user experience, graphic design, interactivity with JavaScript, and virtual instruction.
